The Cape Of Storms
Here I am, at home.. Just finished my Economics tutorial.. Currently listening to the song "The Cape Of Storms" by Hyde.. Will talk a little bit more about this song later.. Going back to school later.. Didn't have any lessons this morning, since most of my lectures and tutorials have ended.. But will be going back to school later to have my last tutorial for economics at 5:30pm.. Going back for just 1 lesson is really a hassle, since I take close to 2 hours to go to school and another 2 hours to come back home.. But anyway, I really don't want to miss any of my lessons.. Luckily, I will be meeting ShwuYun after that for the karaoke session.. So I guess it's not really a waste of time to go back to school today for the 1 hour lesson..
Recently, I have been listening to a lot of songs by L'Arc~en~Ciel.. Really, really like their songs, in particular, Hyde's voice.. Really hope I can sing as well as him one day.. I would really want to set him as my benchmark, something for me to work towards to.. As for now, if I really want to sing as well as him in future, I would need to work on my 'Falsetto'.. Just when I thought using a 'Falsetto' voice to sing can't get any more difficult, along the way comes James Blunt, and now, Hyde.. I'm really impressed by Hyde's voice.. He is able to switch his voice from normal to 'Falsetto' without leaving any gaps in his voice.. And that is not all.. He is also a wonderful lyricist.. A great lyricist who can sing and write his songs in Japanese as well as English..
"The Cape Of Storms" is a wonderful example.. This song is from his first solo album.. I know I've been waxing lyrical about Hyde recently.. But I really can't help it.. He is really a very good singer and lyricist.. He can write such poetic lyrics, in Japanese and also in English.. Yea.. And he can sing them with such conviction and emotions.. Take a look at the lyrics of "The Cape Of Storms" which I've posted below and you'll see what I mean.. This song is an English song written by Hyde, and is also a song from the movie "Last Quarter".. I'm not sure how others intepret the lyrics to this song, but I feel that this song has a very melancholic feel to it.. Somehow, it also describes what I'm feeling at the moment.. So that's why I've decided to post the lyrics here.. I guess it's not enough for me to say all these here.. You have to listen to his songs to justify what I mean.. I was blown away by him, how about you??
The Cape Of Storms - Hyde
So where do I sail?
A ship losing control
My cries swallowed up, lost in the raging sea
So where has love gone?
Will I ever reach it?
The Cape of Storms echoes the pain I feel inside
You'll never notice
The colour of sin
Just as the storm clouds closes in
It's dark
Here in the shadows
I am pursued
Until the ends of the earth
Embraced
The ghost ship wanders far
For there is no guiding star
And this treasure has no meaning anymore
So where do I sail?
A ship losing control
My cries swallowed up, lost in the raging sea
So where has love gone?
Will I ever reach it?
The Cape of Storms echoes the pain I feel inside
You know completely
The taste of sin
Melting sweet in your mouth
Like chocolate
A moment of pleasure
You are fulfilled
But every dream has its time
To die
The ghost ship wanders far
For there is no guiding star
And this treasure has no meaning anymore
Will this be my fate?
So where do I sail?
A ship losing control
My cries swallowed up, lost in the raging sea
So where has love gone?
Will I ever reach it?
The Cape of Storms echoes the pain I feel inside
