The Performance
Today's the opening for School of Communications Studies Fusion Radio, and Geyong was invited to put up a small performance.. I was also part of this small performance group and so this was again a chance for me to gather stage experience..
This time round, we only put up a total of 3 items.. So it was really a small-scale performance.. There wasn't really a lot of people around to watch us today, but all of us still gave our best.. Our 3 groups of people consist of Kok Song with Melvin on the keyboard, ShwuYun with Qichuan on the guitar, and myself with Junying on the guitar.. Kok Song performed an original song titled "Chu Fang", written by Melvin, while ShwuYun performed "Xie Yi Shou Ge" by Shun Zi.. As for me, I performed "Jie Kou" by Jay Chou..
My voice wasn't in the best condition these few days, so I wasn't really expecting the crystal-clear voice I had with me during the last performance.. When it was my turn to sing, I actually wasn't as nervous as I was before.. I guess it's because I'm starting to regain my stage composure which I had many years back.. Still, I wouldn't say I'm not nervous at all, just that I wasn't as nervous compared to my last performance.. While singing the song, I tried my best to bring my feelings across.. I guess I more or less succeeded in doing this.. Having sung this song for many times, I thought I would start to feel sick of it.. However, a conversation I had with Kok Song yesterday jolted me up from my perception.. He said it is possible that when you sing a song many times, you will begin to have a better feel for the song.. Pondering over it, I realized he's right.. That's why I approached the song today with this in mind.. I guess he's right on this.. I do have a better feel of the song after singing it for so many times..
Halfway through the song, I felt that my voice is going from clear to rough.. I know it is a sign that I may go off-key any time.. I tried my best to control my voice in order for it not to go off-key.. Luckily, I managed to finish the song without going off-key.. I just hope that my voice condition will improve over the days..
Overall, the performance was quite good.. Both Kok Song and ShwuYun have great voices.. ShwuYun's voice really sounded very similar to Shun Zi's voice.. A beautiful lady with a beautiful voice.. Yea.. Hope there will be more chances to perform in future..
