3rd performance in 2 weeks..

Took part in the performance for Students' Union today.. This was my 3rd performance in 2 weeks.. This time round, I did not forget any of my lyrics.. Maybe it's because this is the 3rd time I'm singing the song on stage.. I guess this time round, I finally got the true feel to this song..

For the previous 2 times, my mind was more focussed on remembering the lyrics.. This time round, my mind is on the feel of this song.. Perhaps it's because I was the first to perform today, so while setting up the microphone and the guitar, I had ample time to have a feel of the stage as well as calm myself down.. Hence, I was not as nervous.. In addition, I was quite confident that since this is the 3rd time I'm singing this song, I'm sure the lyrics will come to me naturally.. Therefore, I decided to put my mind on the feel of the song instead.. This song is supposed to be a very romantic song, so I had to imagine what it would be like if I were to experience this situation.. No points for guessing what went through my mind at that time.. JL was the inspiration behind my performance today.. Although I know the beautiful picture in my mind is not going to happen anytime soon, it was enough to let me experience the feel of the song.. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my performance today..

JL was there to support us, although she did not sing today.. Was quite surprised to see her, cause I thought she might have lessons today during that period of time.. But I was again happy to see her.. After the performance, Edwin, Huiqi, Shan Shan, Kok Song, SY, JL and I made our way towards Canteen A.. On our way there, we passed by a booth selling posters and CDs.. JL was "squealing in delight" when she saw the posters.. Her expression was so cute!! At that instant, I could really feel my heart melting.. This is a little too much for me.. I really feel that I've really fallen for her..

We parted ways when we reached Canteen A.. Had my lunch there before proceeding to my Elective at LT26.. Today's lecture really gave me a lot to think about.. We touched on 2 songs today.. The more popular of the 2 is the song "北京一夜" by 陈升.. I didn't really know the true meaning behind this song until today.. This song may seem very ordinary on the surface, but the meaning behind this song is really deep.. It is about a very deep love between the 2 main characters in the song that transcends across time.. The whole song comes to life with the singing.. A lot of other hidden meanings could be found throughout the whole song..

After today's lecture, I can't help but feel a sense of respect for 陈升.. Really admire him for coming up with such a concept for the song.. This also makes me think about a lot of things.. After today, I finally understand that not only do melodies require creativity, lyrics too needs to be creative.. Abstract ideas would be a bonus point.. This also lets me understand that I still have a long way to go to become an accomplished songwriter.. But I'm not going to give up though.. Instead, today's lecture has given me the motivation to write better lyrics in future.. Hopefully I can write great lyrics in future.. Yea..
