Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!!! I know it's kind of late to say this now, but I haven't had time to blog for the past one week.. Was really busy for the past week.. I guess I'll try to sum things up for the past week..
Saturday was Chinese New Year Eve.. Spent the day at home.. Nothing special.. Watched the Countdown TV programme with my family..
Went to visit my relatives on Sunday.. Went in the afternoon and came back around evening.. After which, my whole family went to the temple opposite my flat to pray.. That more or less concluded the day..
Went to visit 3 other relatives on Monday.. Since they live quite far away from one another, we set off earlier than on the first day.. After visiting all of them, we went back home.. Reached home in the evening..
Stayed at home on Tuesday.. Cause I haven't done my programming lab report!!! Need to rush through it as I thought the deadline was on Wednesday.. Spent the whole day trying to do the report..
Back to school again on Wednesday.. Found out that the programming report was due on Friday rather than Wednesday.. Was a little relieved as I could not resolve some parts of my program.. As my Elective was cancelled on Wednesday, this meant that my last lesson for that day ended at 12:30pm.. However, I had a rehearsal for the upcoming Lunchtime Concert at 7pm.. Hence I had to wait in school.. Might as well, since I spent the time I had trying to resolve my program.. Although much time was spent on the program, I still could not resolve the errors.. Guess I'm really not good in programming..
When it was time for the rehearsal, I made my way to SAC, where the rehearsal was held.. All those present for the rehearsal tried their best to master the songs which they were supposed to sing.. I was supposed to sing David Tao's "
Pu Tong Peng You", but after some tries, I decided not to.. My voice that day was terrible.. Not really sure why.. Perhaps I was too tired after spending so much time trying to resolve the errors in my program.. Perhaps I ate too much heaty food during the Chinese New Year.. But in my own opinion, I guess it was because I'm still not good enough to sing this song confidently.. I'm not used to singing R&B style of songs.. Therefore, after some suggestions from my seniors, I finally decided on "
Liu Xing. Sen Lin. Yu" by Daniel Chan.. Compared to David Tao's "
Pu Tong Peng You", this song is really a lot much easier.. And this song belongs to the category of Ballads, something which I guess I excel in.. So I really hope to present this song in the best possible way on the actual day itself..
A sidenote: Ling Chong and SY's duet is really very good!! Both of them are really very good singers..
Nothing much special happened on Thursday.. Spent whatever free time I had trying to resolve my program.. Starting to get a little frustrated as I still could not resolve the errors despite spending so much time on it..
Friday was the day to hand in my report.. Still could not resolve the errors.. Spent whatever time I had left after my lessons trying to resolve my program.. Managed to resolve the errors with some help from the lab supervisor.. Saw a glimmer of hope, yet it was gone again when I tried to run my program.. Although I managed to compile my program, I encountered runtime errors when I tried running my program.. With time running out, I had no choice but to hand in the, successfully compiled, yet unsucessful in running, program.. Was feeling quite frustrated as I had to hand in a failed program despite spending so much time on it.. Really wonder how am I going to pull through this programming module.. I guess I'll just have to try my best..
Went for
Geyong activity after handing in my report.. Surprisingly, not a lot of people came for the activity.. Guess most people are still busy celebrating Chinese New Year.. Despite the small number of people, the activity went on as usual.. Was taught the song "
Ai Shi Ni Yan Li De Yi Shou Qing Ge" by our seniors.. This song was originally written and sung by Ke Gui Min, a Singaporean singer-songwriter.. But the more popular rendition of this song should be by local singer, Jocie Kok.. All of us were then told to give a try at this song, and by the end of the activity, all of us managed to sing the song in front of the rest of the people at least once..
Stayed back for a while after the activity to watch Gun Kiat rehearse for his performance.. Tried my best to help him grasp the song, although I'm not totally sure of the song myself.. Hoped I managed to help him in some ways..
Well.. I guess that concludes my long week.. Now I'm really looking forward to Thursday's Lunchtime Concert.. Really hope to put in my best for that day.. After yesterday, I managed to realize something very important.. When it comes to singing, feelings is the key.. I guess the reason why I could not sing "
Pu Tong Peng You" properly was because I was too focused on getting the techniques correct, and neglected the feelings involved.. Now that I've found out my problem, I will take note not to commit the same mistakes when I sing "
Liu Xing. Sen Lin. Yu" on Thursday.. I hope I can give a proper rendition of this song.. Yea..
